Yurika Lake Julius Substation Upgrade
AEP Elical were engaged by Yurika to complete a substation upgrade at the Lake Julius site. The upgrade to the substation required creating separate enclosures for the Mount Isa Water Board transformers and the Sunwater transformer. Part of this upgrade included the relocation of a Mount Isa Water Board transformer and the introduction of a three-way switch to separate the supply to the transformers. AEP Elical was responsible for the design deliverables including:
Plant;
Operating;
Metering and Protection;
Switchroom GA Layout
General Arrangement Plant;
Materials List; and
Site Layout.

AEP Elical was appointed through Pricewaterhouse Coopers to provide Essential Energy with technical advisory services and an Independent Engineer’s report in support of the divestment of the Broken Hill gas turbine power plant.
AGL Energy had requested Elical to complete an Arc Flash Study for the Loy Yang 'A' Power Station; the largest power station in Victoria.
AEP Elical completed a High Voltage (HV) power supply concept design study which focused on the HV infrastructure as part of the QCoal Byerwen Project feasibility study.
AEP Elical was chosen to provide an expert independent review into the Power Station Control System at a mine site which utilised cutting-edge renewable technology.
AEP Elical successfully completed engineering design updates and verification of the ETAP Load Flow model for the electrical assets at MMG’s Rosebery copper mine.
AEP Elical completed an Arc Flash Study for Dyno Nobel Plant in Moranbah for Incitec Pivot Limited.
AEP Elical was engaged to undertake a site inspection and concept design to provide emergency backup power generation at GRA Ceduna facility.
This project included the upgrade of the lead smelting facility and introduction of the advanced metal recovery facility at Nyrstar's Port Pirie operations.
AEP Elical supported the Green LOHC project to demonstrate the effectiveness of using Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carrier (LOHC) technology for storage and transportation of green hydrogen.
