Our Projects
Client Solar Farm Implementation
AEP Elical controlled and supervised the SCADA systems development for a solar farm installed to connect into a weak rural distribution system. In addition, we were asked to provide advice on how to manage the system to keep the output within the performance parameters of the distribution authority.
Nyrstar Slag Caster Fume Hoods Modification
AEP Elical was engaged to undertake detailed design for modifications to the slag caster fume hoods. These modifications were required to provide clearance for a launder cleaning machine to be transported via the Monorails to/from the new northern and southern platform via the new launders.
Onshore Windfarm Substation and Cable Design
We are proudly working in cooperation with valued partners and clients for the design of one of Australia’s largest Onshore Windfarm to power the renowned CopperString project taking place in North Queensland. Our role in this project is to provide cable selections for the windfarm, alongside collector and main substation designs to output power to the CopperString network.
Green LOHC Demonstration Karratha WA
AEP Elical supported the Green LOHC project to demonstrate the effectiveness of using Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carrier (LOHC) technology for storage and transportation of green hydrogen.
Surf Lakes - Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Engineering
AEP Elical is excited to advise that it has recently started electrical, instrumentation and controls engineering for a surf lake for Surf Lakes Holdings. The design team includes ASPEC who are providing design management, civil, structural and mechanical engineering services. The project is located in Queensland at a site located midway between the towns of Yeppoon and Rockhampton. It is expected to be operational by mid 2023.
Nyrstar Launder & Tapping Floor Upgrade Project
AEP Elical was engaged to undertake a structural assessment of Hatch designs for the new launder and tapping floor (replacing the plant installed during Transformation). Later on, AEP was engaged to undertake additional scope including design of the fishtail walkways, new southern and northern laydown platforms, and clash checks for the monorail system.
Nyrstar Slag Caster Frame Replacement
AEP Elical was engaged to undertake a concept study, followed by detailed design of structural modifications required to provide access for slag removal under the Slag Caster tail end support frame. As part of this project, AEP Elical undertook a structural integrity audit for the TSL Slag Caster Support Structure as well as additional scope in replacement of existing primary beam in the TSL plant and shedder plates to lengthen design life.
Renewable Hydro Energy for Taveuni and Vanua Levu
Assisted Hydro Developments in the development of the Taveuni Hydro Project. The works include a confirmation of the feasibility study and cost estimate for the transmission system and a 9km submarine cable to allow Energy Fiji Limited to decide on the project. The second phase of the project will explore the preliminary engineering works including, for subsequent finalization for environmental impact assessment, bidding, and arrangement of finance.
Solar and battery system- Rio Tinto’s Weipa power network
AEP Elical provided technical support to implement a new solar and battery system, including integrating the new system into the legacy power system and oversight of the various design components of the project.
Yurika Lake Julius Substation Upgrade
AEP Elical were engaged by Yurika to complete a substation upgrade at the Lake Julius site. The upgrade to the substation required creating separate enclosures for the Mount Isa Water Board transformers and the Sunwater transformer.
Origin Energy: Mortlake 300MW Battery
Supported Origin Energy in the bid to AEMO to provide a 300MW battery in Victoria. This included review of design and contracting risks.
Essential Energy Broken Hill Gas Turbine Due Diligence
AEP Elical was appointed through Pricewaterhouse Coopers to provide Essential Energy with technical advisory services and an Independent Engineer’s report in support of the divestment of the Broken Hill gas turbine power plant.
AEMO Ageing Coal-Fired Generation Reliability (NEM)
AEP Elical recently supported AEMO, Australia’s Energy Market Operator, with an assessment of the reliability of the coal fired power stations in the National Electricity Market (NEM).
EDL Energy Hazardous Area Compliance
AEP Elical were engaged by EDL Energy to complete Hazardous Area Compliance work for EDL’s Wingfield 1 site.
Nyrstar Slag Caster Discharge Chute
Nyrstar Port Pirie (Nyrstar) engaged AEP Elical to undertake Concept Design and Detailed Engineering Design for the Slag Caster Bin Discharge Chute.
Rio Tinto Aluminium Weipa – Infrastructure Life Extension Study
AEP Elical undertook the electrical, controls and communications work associated with the study to conduct a high-level condition assessment and then develop an order of magnitude estimate for capital expenditure for the electrical infrastructure.
