George Widelski

Principal Process Engineer


George Widelski is a Principal Process Engineering Consultant at AEP Elical with more than 40 years’ experience in the international mining industry. George has a broad appreciation of all aspects of mining project development and operation. The experience includes:

  • Metallurgical test work design, supervision and interpretation.

  • Process design and development.

  • Process engineering.

  • Techno-economic evaluations of process concepts.

  • Due diligence reviews.

  • Study management.

  • Operations management.

Previously, George managed the process development, conceptual engineering and process design for a project to produce 100,000 tpa plant of zinc cathode from an oxide deposit. He has also conducted the post commissioning review for a Silver/Lead/Zinc concentrator, from testing of exploration drilling samples to post commissioning performance.

George’s assignments include a due diligence study for a large copper heap leach project using a new technology for sulphide ores, a scoping study for a Saharan uranium project, a Fatal Flaw Review for a proposed acquisition of a historic lead-zinc district in Spain, and a Bankable Feasibility Study of a large scale mineral sands project. He also managed the review and optimisation of a Feasibility Study for a doubly refractory gold project in Central Asia.
